Typically during the
course of the fall, the Shenandoah Valley will see it’s first below freezing
day around mid October. On September 20, 1956 the temperature dropped to 29
degrees, making it the earliest below freezing day of the past 60 years.
2.
Our top 10 survey does
not include any days from the winter of 76 – 77. However, from December 21,
1976 through February 11, 1977 there was a stretch of a record setting 53
consecutive days in which the temperature dropped to freezing or below.
3.
